Power of Attorney fee refunds

Power of Attorney fee refunds

If you made a Lasting Power of Attorney, or an Enduring Power of Attorney was registered,  between 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2017 you are due a partial refund. It has now been decided the fee charged was too high.  However, you would think the Office of the Public Guardian would write to everyone involved but no, you have to apply personally for a refund.  See:

LPA refund

The amount depends on when the Attorney was registered and ranges from £37 to £54 and there will even be interest paid.

You can still apply if the Donor has since died but this has to be by telephone.

It will apparently take up to 12 weeks for the refunds to take place, which seems an incredibly long time.
