Important information regarding fraud
Have you been contacted by someone claiming to be from access law, particularly if requesting money in connection with a rental payment? The victim is often contacted via one of the popular "Classified Ads" websites listing properties to rent, in particular Gumtree.com.
This person uses a number of names, including:-
- Adam Pedro
- Jo Cole
- Alex Johnson
- Paul Longman
and quotes a number of addresses - all false. The telephone number quoted on his letter is always a mobile phone number and investigations have revealed that calls are forwarded through this number to a number in Sudan. This person has no connection with access law and is passing himself off as us.
Under no circumstances should you send money or give your personal details to this person.
Never - ever - pay rent to view a property - this is never required from a legitimate landlord.
If you have been contacted by someone you suspect may be attempting to defraud you in this way we recommend that you do the following:-
- Make a complaint to the website (e.g. Gumtree.com)
- Report the matter to the Police
- Get the mobile number disconnected. You can do this by first finding out the mobile's network at Network Lookup then search for the network company on Google and contact them explaining that the attempted fraud breaches the terms and conditions of their service. They will probably require a copy of the letter/email you have received and in our experience will then act promptly to disconnect the number.
Please contact us if you require further details or assistance.
Let's talk Money £££
Many people are concerned about the cost of legal assistance, particularly "hidden costs".
At
access law we believe that the best approach to finances is to be as
"up front" as possible. So whatever your needs, we'll always endeavour
to give you an estimate of the likely costs involved. Conveyancing
clients will receive a written quote
of ALL likely costs on request; all others, where appropriate, will be
kept fully informed of costs as their case progresses, so there'll be
no unpleasant surprises!
See our Advice Index page for information on Initial interviews at a £10.00 fixed fee and FREE advice by email.
A copy of our price list leaflet is available on request.
In order to keep our prices low, we keep our overheads low. Virtually all forms and documents (and this website!) have been developed entirely in-house using standard software. We are able to use our own versions of forms produced by, among others, the Legal Services Commission, Law Society, HM Land Registry, the Inland Revenue and others, all at no cost to us other than initial development.
Complaints
We always endeavour to give the best possible service at all times, however if there is any aspect of our service which causes dissatisfaction and which cannot be resolved by the person who is conducting the case then the matter may be raised with one of the partners. If your complaint cannot be resolved by the firm, you can write to the Legal Complaints Service. We hope this will not be necessary, but they have a conciliation service and a disciplinary system if things go wrong. We can also agree between us to submit to their binding arbitration.
